Sauvignon Blanc 2021 Coonawarra SA

NOSE - Green melons and lemons upfront with wafts of white stone fruits trailing up the rear.

PALATE - This dry white is pale yellow in colour, light to medium bodied with a delicate line of acid keeping the fruit fresh. There's a boff of grapefruit and lime peel upfront with secondary characters of ripe pears and red apples peeping through from time on lees. Very moreish, very yummy and very very cheap for the quality.

NOTES - This drop is the ultimate wingman/gal. It will bolster you when your confidence wanes and we are not referring to the alcohol content. It has substance and grit. If you are a fan of grapefruit - the very misunderstood adult fruit, this delicious number is right up your alley. There is a complexity to this wine that is rare for Sauvy Bs in general, let alone in this price range, which makes us wonder how it might have turned out if used as a base for a sparkling wine. Pretty spectacular we think. Being unfined and unfiltered has left a small amount of sediment in the bottle which has significantly added to this wines complexity.

We have been lucky enough to have discovered 53 cases of this wine from a recent visit to Coonawarra. It comes from a well known vineyard located on the Terra Rossa strip and is what was left over from their own vintage after running out of labels. Since then it has been sitting in their back shed, gathering dust. At $12.95 a bottle this is sensational value.
