Sour cherries and raspberries are held in check by dusty ‘whole bunch’ brambles giving an earthy intensity before a silky, lean acid finish. This is an immensely drinkable red wine, perfect for the warming weather.
NOSE - Beginning with a hint of spice and cherries, the nose evolves to encompass impressions of forest floor and truffle oil gently jostling with sweet and lofty florals.
PALATE - Typical of the Adelaide Hills, this is a light bodied pinot with quiet, fine tannins. Offering a nose of red cherry and rose petals with a hint of black pepper, leading through to a palate layered with earthy porcini mushrooms and hints of mocha, culminating in a velvety mouthfeel with a lovely tannin structure and a hint of vanilla bean. This is an immensely drinkable red wine, perfect for the warmer weather ahead.
NOTES - This fruit driven pinot is the perfect choice for those looking for a light and easy drinking wine to enjoy as summer finally arrives. Versatile with food, it has enough bottle age to provide some extra interest for the purists, while the price point is perfect for those looking for a very enjoyable and easy drinking red wine to combat the summer heat.
VINTAGE CONDITIONS - The 2017 Adelaide Hills vintage was characterised by the highest rainfall in 24 years during 2016. Moist soils meant flower development was optimal but wet conditions produced lighter than average fruit set. Hot and dry weather conditions during fruit ripening favoured full development of colour and flavour over the long, dry summer.
VINIFICATION - The must was cold-soaked for 4 days before being fermented with two Burgundian yeast varieties. The wine was then transferred to 20% new and 80% second-fill French barriques, hogsheads and puncheons, where it is aged for 12 months.
VEGAN FRIENDLY - Like all of our wines, no animal products were used in the making of this wine.
