Perched at 200 metres on the northwestern end of the Mount Dandenong range, south-east facing, ancient rhyodacite soils over nutrient-poor grey loam, this is a block that produces something darker and more brooding than the region is known for. Destemmed and whole bunch fruit, nine months in old French and new Austrian oak, unfined and unfiltered. The result is a Pinot Noir of uncommon savouriness and depth - atypical, deliberate, and built to improve for a decade or more. For those who thought they knew what Yarra Pinot tasted like.
