NOSE - Green melon and lemon up front, white stone fruit drifting in behind. Fresh, lifted, and already suggesting it has more going on than it's letting on.

PALATE - Grapefruit and lime peel arrive with confidence, ripe pear and red apple emerging quietly from behind - a little time on lees adding depth and a creamy roundness that has no business being here at this price. The acidity is long and clean, the finish moreish and bright. Unfined and unfiltered, a little sediment in the bottle - not a flaw, a feature. It's part of what makes this wine so unexpectedly interesting.

NOTES - Fifty-three cases, discovered in a back shed in Coonawarra. Terra Rossa fruit, run out of labels, gathering dust at $14.95 a bottle. This is the kind of find that makes you feel very smug indeed. A Sauvignon Blanc of rare complexity for the variety, let alone the price point - grapefruit-driven, structured, and genuinely moreish in that way that empties a bottle faster than intended. If you've ever wondered whether grapefruit - the very misunderstood adult fruit - deserves more credit, this is your answer. It does. Grab a case before someone else does.
