NOSE - Ripe dark cherry and plum lead with abandon, candied apple and cool pear close behind. Vanilla, aniseed, a whisper of leather and campfire smoke - more complexity than a wine this young has any right to.
PALATE - Warm and generous from the first sip, red fruit and vanilla opening things up before earthy richness pulls everything deeper. The tannins are gritty and dry, the body medium to full, grapefruit adding an unexpected brightness that keeps it honest. The finish is long and sweet-edged, juicy at the very end like it can't quite help itself. No oak to speak of, just pure unguarded fruit doing exactly what it wants.
