NOSE - The nose shows ripe stone fruit notes of apricot and peach. Citrus blossom, black tea, pear and honey also show. There are notes of freshly cut straw, almond meal and mandarin peel which push into flinty aromas with lifted oak tones of crème brûlée.

PALATE -  The palate shows grapefruit, lemon, mandarin citrus notes with richer, more forward tones of apricot and fleshy peaches with cream. The phenolic, acid and glycerol-sweetness weave around palate which give presence to the wine and are layered around notes of red apple. Smooth, layered, and very very interesting.

NOTES - The Marsanne grapes were sourced from Wattle Glen vineyard. A 30 year-old block of unirrigated vines located in Mount Evelyn, which is at the northern end of the Dandenong Ranges, Yarra Valley. Mount Dandenong is an extinct volcano which is some 373 million years old. This vineyard is grown by Alkimi Wines using regenerative agriculture practices. 

Vintage 2024 saw quite benign yet warm conditions throughout both the growing and ripening season. A largely dry harvest period created near perfect conditions for the grapes to ripen gently where picking was in line with what is understood as the ‘new normal’. Handpicked on 17th March at good ripeness, capitalising on a broad spectrum of floral notes, mascarpone and ripe stone fruit. The grapes were chilled overnight then wholebunch pressed to old and new French oak with careful consideration of when to cut the press. Primarily looking for a mix of freshness, phenolic and flavour.

This wine was wild fermented and also allowed to go through an indigenous malo-lactic conversion. In January 2025, the wine was sulphured, blended and bottled without fining or filtration.
