NOSE - Red cherry and wild strawberry arrive, bright and unhurried - rose petal and a breath of forest floor drift in behind, like someone who just came in from outside.
PALATE - Juicy red fruits open things up before a deeper current of plum and black cherry pulls you in. Blackberry, clove, and a whisper of baking spice add quiet richness, while the acidity keeps everything lifted and alive. The tannins are fine-grained and easy, the finish long and balanced - structured without stiffness, refined without effort. This is a wine that has absolutely nothing to prove, and that's precisely what makes it so compelling.
NOTES - While the rest of us arrived two hours early, shoes shined, boarding pass saved in three places, there are others still deadheading roses at home. Yet, somehow they appear - bags packed, perfectly dressed, just in time to board. Somehow they get upgraded. Somehow there's overhead space. Then as the plane eases back from the gate, a glass of Pinot appears in their hand as they nonchalantly scrape the last trace of garden from under one nail.
These people are not Type A. Not even Type B. They're a personality entirely to themselves - Type F. This wine reminds us of them. Two Dijon clones from the cool slopes of the Adelaide Hills, elegant without trying, refined without effort. Life just seems to work out for these people and all the rest of us can do is raise a glass and look on in quiet, helpless admiration.
