NOSE - A beautifully spiced, floral bouquet of lifted violets, cloves and black pepper make way for fleshy, ripe red fruits. The oak is subtle but present, as is a delicate touch of smoke.

PALATE - For those of you looking for a big bold Aussie Shiraz, this will not be to your liking. It's so much more than a Dan's special fruit bomb. It is sophisticated and delicate; yet there is a rich fruit intensity of cherries and blueberries that 'threaten to go big', but never quite gets there. There is a masterful balance, a beguiling dance that I love about this wine. The Adelaide Hill's signature black pepper and cloves sit quietly in the background as does a lick of cedar and some shy oak characteristics. Inky purply-red in colour, this is a lovely wine with smooth tannins and decent length.

NOTES - The Balhannah vineyard is meticulously managed and the wine was crafted by the legends at Bleasdale - James Halliday's Winemaker of the Year in 2018 and winery of the year in 2024. Past winners of the Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy and the Max Schubert Trophy. This drop is effortless. Beautifully balanced with spice, and smooth on the palate. Extermely drinkable

It's all mine!

This was a really smooth but full bodied wine, right from cracking the seal. I opened it to have with pasta and homemade garlic sourdough toast, but I'd emptied half the bottle before I got the pasta to the table (and not into the pasta, that was the remains of a Heathcoat 2022 Shiraz - also good). I liked it so much I thought about giving some away to a friend who loves a good Shiraz, but then that fever of altruism passed and gave way to my typical commitment to self-interest... and I didn't. Recommended and, if I can do it without my wife finding out, I'll grab another half a case.
