NOSE - Lifted violets and cloves arrive first, black pepper close behind, dark fruit settling in beneath with quiet authority. Subtle oak, a whisper of smoke - this is a bouquet that doesn't need to raise its voice.
PALATE - For those hoping for a fruit bomb: this is not that wine. Cherry and blueberry carry genuine depth and richness, Adelaide Hills black pepper and cloves threading through with easy confidence, cedar and oak present but never clamouring for attention. The tannins are fine-grained and beautifully structured, the finish long and considered. Sophisticated and succulent in equal measure - the kind of wine that makes the loud ones in the room look like they're trying too hard.
NOTES - There's always someone at the table who mistakes volume for substance. This wine has met that person and is not impressed. Adelaide Hills Shiraz at this elevation earns its confidence slowly - through a growing season that demanded precision and rewarded patience, through French oak that added complexity without overwriting character. The result is a wine that doesn't announce itself, doesn't need the room's attention, and will absolutely outlast anything brash enough to compete with it. Open the lid. Let it breathe.
