PALATE - Poached pear and honeydew melon open with a smile, citrus blossom adding a little lift, before the texture arrives - silky, slightly oily, and frankly not what you expected from something that looked this composed in the glass. A whisper of almond skin and white pepper at the finish. Racy acidity cuts through clean, leaving you bright-eyed and quietly reconsidering your first impression. Four months on lees has given this wine a confidence it wears very well.
NOTES - Night-harvested and immaculately presented, this Pinot Gris has impeccable manners - right up until it doesn't. Four months on lees has built a warmth and texture beneath that composed exterior that has absolutely no business being this good. Crisp and proper on the surface, silky and quietly revealing underneath. Pinot Gris at its most interesting saves its best self for later. This one is no different.
